New snake--is this normal??

Today I bought a young mexican black kingsnake at a local pet shop. (Sorry, I know this section is meant for corns but I'm not sure where else to post this!)

He seems to be in pretty good health except for this one thing--when the employee got him out and handed him over to me, I noticed that his vent seemed to have some white on it. Not shortly after, he pooped (or musked? never been musked so I don't know) a little bit of white fluid on me, so I assumed that was what the white was. However, the white on his vent that I had assumed was leftover poo did not wipe off upon cleaning.

On further inspection, there also seems to be a small orange-ish spot on his vent. I'll post pictures since I'm not sure how else to explain it.

One of the employees said it was just his cloaca, and another said it was just that time of week that he starts pooping so it must be poop. Both thought it was fine and would go away.

He does have a fair amount of white on his chin, but I've never heard of a MBK with a white vent. There is a 14 day "guarantee", and I thought I should consult with you guys to see if you think this is a health concern or if it is normal.

Pictures next!

And the pictures. The orange spot doesn't seem as big/vivid in person..

I don't know much but I would take it to the vet ASAP. Looks almost like a scale came off I'd something

It does look like he's missing the anal plate. Doesn't seem fresh though. You'll need to keep it clean if that is a fresh wound. My mbk will musk a lot, sometimes he'll protrude those glands and it looks like a gaping wound, but it doesn't look like that.

Hmmm.. Thanks for the comments guys. I wouldn't have guessed it was a missing scale. It's definitely got me much more worried now, and I need to get it checked out STAT.

I'll schedule a vet appointment first thing tomorrow morning (since it's almost midnight here) and hopefully I'll get him in sometime tomorrow or Monday.

I'll let everyone know what the verdict is...
