Introducing.... Diablo!!!!

First I would like to say hi to everyone. This has been a very cool and the most infomative site I have come across. Very glad I found it. Everyone on here seems very nice and willing to help with questions, and I love seeing everybody's snakes also.

After a lot of reading and talking to pet store owners with each there own opinions on how to set it up for a new corn, here is my set up and how it all happened. Any opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

In the beginning: 29 gal high, black aspen, uth, 2 hides, water bowl, 2 pieces of drift wood, temp. probe. Took all precautions and set up the recommended way. UTH on one side water bowl at opposite end and 1 hide on each side. Then after reading a lot more about the size of tanks for baby corns I decided to switch him over to a 5 gal with same set up except instead of the driftwood I gave him a plastic plant to climb on, he loves it.

I have the hot side running about 83-84 on the glass with a light dimmer to control the heat, cool side about 74-77.

I got Diablo last Thur. He's been in the 5 gal viv since Fri. I hav'nt tried to handle or feed him yet. I think he is starting to feel pretty comfortable in his new home. In the evening he pokes his head out to check out whats going on. Then when some lights go out I watched him explore his new home. He has even come out a couple of times during the day and taken a nap up in the branches of the plant.

I plan on trying to feed him a f/t pinkie on tue for the first time in a seperate container leave him be for 48 hrs then start to bring him out to used to being held.

This is definatly very exciting i cant wait feed him hope everything goes well. Can someone possibly tell me what his color is from the pic?

Your corn snake looks like he is an amelanistic (AKA amel or red albino), and your set-up looks good. It's always good to hear that new owners have done some research and know how to prepare for their new pets. I think you will really enjoy having a corn snake. Welcome to the forum! :)

well he looks the same as my yogi and i was told yogi was a christmas morph. if thats any help. memo to self.... post picture up of yogi :)

The only thing I would change is I'd let him get two meals in him before handling. Just in case. How often do you plan on feeding?

I'd suggest 5 days. Less than five and you aren't going to be able to handle him much. Six or seven would be all right, but they get so hungry!!

Thanks for all the advice. I think every 5 days sounds good as well, i definately want to handle him as much as possible.

The plant i got at petco.....he loves it. curls up and naps for about an hr each day.:dancer:

yeah i have a nice moss log i got at petsmart and my snake loves it... im not sure what its made of though.... its definitely not wood.... not plastic either.... um its like super hard though

Welcome aboard! You'll really enjoy this site. I did pretty much the same as you: did the research and got my first corn in 2006. Her arrival anniversary is 10/31/10. I'm in the process of looking into getting a Creamsicle. It seems that once you get into corns you get hooked.

Nice set-up.

Thanks everyone. They do seem very addicting, keep it simple for now untill i figure it all out with one. Trying to get him to eat tonight been about an hr now in his feed container....no luck yet!
