New Snake

I got a new baby today. My very first cornsnake. She's a July 2002 hatchling, with gorgeous creamsicle coloring. I have a new obsession. She's hiding right now, but she was a VERY fiesty active girl in the car. My undertank heater is in the process of working, heating up her tank so it should be fine soon. Ah. She's such a doll, save her biting me at the show. Of course, she was nervous around all those people so I don't blame her, and it was more mouthing than actual biting. She just opened her mouth and sort of stuck it gently around my fingertip. Lots of handling after she settles in will remedy that I think.

I've named her Diesel. I don't know why, it just fit. I'll take pictures of her soon!

Congrats on the new corn!
Sounds more like feeding than biting. Had you handled any rodents/lizards/etc beforehand?

^.^

I hadn't handled anything else, no. It was feeding behavior though i'm certain she was just hungry. Rodents were nearby so she could smell them and probably assumed it was okay to eat. I'm not worried about that. She's a doll. I just can't wait till I get to hold her again.

Thanks! I'll post pics soon as possible!

LOL ! Great name. I have a theory that they name themselves and you just have to listen hard enough to find out what they're called.

I'm getting a hatchling that I was planning to call Minty. However, even though she's still with the breeder, she's decided that she's called Mathilda instead (with an H - she was most specific). Weird, cos it wasn't even on my short list.

All of my snakes named themselves. I had one which didn't tell me until she'd been with me for a week, but I figured she was just nervous !

OK I'm a bit odd, but years of keeping Corns will do that to you... sometimes.....

Cheers
Kel

Kel,
Thank you!!You have just cleared everything up for me. There are times that I get a new snake and a name just pops into my head even before I pay for it. Then sometimes it take me awhile. I got a Motley snow and had him for about a month before I named him and then wham his name came to me.
I guess he was not ready to tell me.
