hi i just got my first corn about 2 weeks ago. i ordered it from South Mountain Reptiles. when i first got it the guy i ordered from said i could feed it about 4 days after i got it. everything went fine. i would see her in and out of her hide during the day and night. i fed her about a week ago, and i haven't seen her sense. she has stayed in her hide the whole time. i looked in, she's still breathing/moving, but i don't know if this is something to worry about or not. also, i haven't really held her, when would be a good time to do this. i know not to do it 48 hrs. after feeding, but can i just go ahead and pick her up any other time when she is out of her hide? i tried once but she seemed to get very scared and ran back to the hide. thanks for the help.

It's very normal for new snakes to be scared and nervous. THe only way to cure it is with........handling! And time. And patience. :)
If she ate last week, it should be OK to hold her now. Be gentle and no fast/sudden movements.
Oh and be ready in case she decides to run away b/c they're really fast when they're scared. You might want to sit on the floor as you hold her b/c they sometimes decide to try skydiving.
Nighttime is better b/c corns are active during the night and sleep during the day.
Good luck!
Mine was super jumpy when I first got her and she still sort of is now (3 mos later) but much less so.

well i looked in her cage this morning and i guess she shedded overnight. i guess that would explain why she's been hiding for so long. thanks for the help.
