New Snek Momma

Hello All, I'm Jord
Due to become a new snake Momma tomorrow!

Honestly can't wait, I've had two beautiful snow corns in the past
but unfortunately they are not with me any more due to unforeseen circumstances. :(

Finally got the point where I'm ready for another scaled companion in my life!

The little guy I'm picking up tomorrow is a rescue, he was found with a few others and extremely underweight, luckily the lovely woman who found him was able to bring him back up to weight and I can now offer him a lovely home.

I think he is an Amel motley morph? but I'm not entirely sure,
Also looking for some helps with names if you all don't mind lending a hand, anything sci-fi/ fantasy related definitely wouldn't go amiss!

I think I've rambled on long enough, look forward to being a member of this group and sharing many posts!

Heheh snek. Welcome to the forums and congrats on your rescued Noodle! I dunno, I named my snow from a video game but it's a generic common name for such. How old is he? He looks pretty big!

I love the terms snek and noodle haha. Thank you!
wow he has an amazing name, what video game was it?

I have no idea and the other woman doesn't either unfortunately but hoping to get him weighed once he has settled in :)

Congratulations and welcome! He's very pretty! I vote Talyn for the name. It was the name of a living ship (the main ship's baby) from the show Farscape. :)

Thank you :) ooo I like that it's interesting, I do have the name Asriel stuck in my head a bit as i've not long finished playing Undertale :)

Haha, if you want to go with that.. I was going to suggest Papyrus since he's red. But I think Asriel is good.

I got "Leviathan" from a fighting game called "Skullgirls". He's this boney serpent parasite that lives with a cute Opera Zombie girl named Squigly. He goes through her head. http://goo.gl/eBSBTV

How did i not think of papyrus!! haha i'm also stuck on Pan, hmmm in a pickle here haha :)

that sounds pretty wicked :)

Names off the top: Diablo, Sythe, Slasher, Dragon, Reaper, Kraken?

Just a couple of suggestions.

Wow! Can you tell where MY head is?!

So many to choose from haha, my other half also said Kracken :) however as the snake is technically only one tentacle he might feel a bit intimated xD

I am now very taken to the name Howl, as howl's moving castle is on and happens to be my favourite studio ghibli film, or possibly even Calcifer as he would have the colours for it.

You're all going to think i'm mad xD

Will definitely post some more pictures tomorrow, just gone and ordered a new thermometer for the rub to measure the humidity accurately.

I spend god knows how much on my fish and dog per month, lord knows how much it'll be now, pet shop will be loving it. :)

Ohhh, I like the idea of Howl or Calcifer ;3 Seems to me you're a fellow lover of video games and anime/cartoons yay! Definitely not mad at all. While we're at it, I'd suggest Haku too from Spirited Away!

I'm so leaning towards Calcifer or Cal for short :)
Yes definitely!
I'm going to end up with so many at this rate for all the names haha my other half will be going crazy!

Only a few hours until he finally gets here :D

Here's the part where I show how much fun I am at parties. Leviathan is from the Hebrew Tanakh, mentioned several times in the book of Job. It was probably derived from stories of the Canaanite monster Lotan, servant of the sea god Yammu, who was defeated by the storm god Ba'al. Earlier Syrian depictions show the serpent Temtum being slain by the storm god Hadad.

A fun related fact: in the time the midrash (a sort of analysis of the Tanakh that filed many gaps) was written, it was believed that God made a male and female Leviathan just like all the other animals at the beginning of creation, but killed the female so they could not reproduce and destroy the world. He was thought to be saving the flesh of the female to serve as a great feast to celebrate the advent of the messiah.

Ooh! That's very interesting, thanks for share that tidbit. I love learning about mythology and folklore! I meant the name to be as in it's references in ALOT of different sources.

Happy Snek Momma's day!

Whoa! Hey Cinnabunbun, betcha didn't know Leviathan had such a colorful background, huh? (Thanx to Dragonling for the biblical history lesson!). Just goes to show that sometimes ya can't just say, "What's in a name?" without giving some thought to it. Therefore, I'm PROBABLY going to name my next snake "John" in the interests of karma, since I did have a boa I named Lucifer when I was a teenager attempting better living through chemistry!
