Yeah, a uth. Under Tank Heater. Sold at most pet stores. The stick on the glass thermometer is no good. It tells you the air temps but not the substrate temps where the snakes belly will be. Get a indoor/ outdoor thermometer with a probe and place the probe on the substrate above the uth and another one for the "cool" side of viv. Warm side 80/85 cool side 74/78 temps. There lots more. just use the search and read and read. Your at a good place here alot of knowledgeable people here. Not me but others.
And welcome.

oooo.. good idea. I do have a normal thermometer in the tank so I can make sure the room itself is not too cold. But I do have a prob thermometer that I can use too!

Thanks for the tip!

Oh Yeah, Make sure your tank lit is very secure. These little guys are escape artest.

Good Luck!

Very nice, i recommend putting in a couple of those vines that stick to the sides with suction cups. Nagini loves hers, usually only goes up the left one, accross the lip on the tank and down the right one... weird... Anyway, congrats on your new soon arrival!

As said above, get yourself some straps or clips to hold that lid down or your next post will be titled "how do I find my escaped corn snake"
I also strongly recommend a thermostat so you can regulate the temperature, I use a habistat one.
Please bin those thermometers mine was 20° out :eek1:
Either flatten those cardboard rolls or get yourself a couple of cork hides, from what I can gather snakes like to have a tight place to hide where most of there body is touching. I have two fairly flat imitation bark cork hides.
I also find it better to have one hide half over the uth and half not.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new arrival

thanks for the tip!

My tank does have 2 clip locks in the back and the top actually slides into place and locks- so hopefully I wont have an issue :)

thanx

Sorry amcgltdchix, instead of posting i am going to go off your post. I see you have the same temp. gage as I. This was recommended to me by the "pet store" I got my baby from. I also got the humidity gage that is the same, I have placed them both in the middle of the viv and am not confidant that my temps/humid is accurate. Please let me know how it works out for yours. The gauges read between 75-92 degrees night/day and apprx 60 % humidity with no misting. Ive had her/him about 3wks and 3 successfull feeds.

Rorryy please get a better thermometer the type shown dont work properley.

You also state that you have this in the middle of your viv, this also isnt good, you need to measure the substrate temperature at the warm end of the viv. I still recommend a digital probe type hygrometer, its a small price to pay for your pets health, and I think you will be shocked at the inaccuracy of the one your using now.
Btw the pet shop also recommended that thermometer to me, and gave me two with my setup, he also led me to believe alsorts of other crap.

? Thinking of getting this - Outlet 1,000wt Electronic Temperature Controller with Probe (This amazing thermostat will maintain any preselected temperature between 60 and 105 degrees) )()()(Do I need this? Cost $20.)()()()(

I think thats all I have so far. Only cost $50 with shipping. Keep in mind this is for a Baby corn snake and will be getting a new tank after 6-12 month if recommended. Also if i wanted to get two baby corn snakes could they live in the same cage and how big should the cage be? Thank You for any info or help!
