new tank setup

I will take some... soon as i figue out what kind of water to put in there lol. should i use reptisafe water conditioner?
 
I use our tap water b/c we don't have an issue w/ chlorine. I heard ppl use the conditioner b/c of that. If u do, then u can use it or used bottled water. I change it out every day to make sure its fresh. But if u use aspen bedding that will be sufficient. U don't need paper towels. :)
 
Here is my setup pic.. no snake yet just a trial setup to get everything correct.

10 gallon with aspen bedding don't make fun of the hides lol I'm gonna use black construction paper for the sides and the back.

Very nice! We have the same water bowl...u have a UTH yet? Well I'm taking it that the big black box behind the tank is the digital thermometer? Your new snake will be a lucky snakie! :) I would never make fun, that's actually resourceful! I like it! :)
 
yeah I have a uth and the rheostat is on low.. it's currently registering at 86.9 so hopefully it wont raise any higher then 88 .. it's only been on for about 30 mins. Yeah I have 2 digital temps in there 1 that registers the humidity and the uth heat and then I have one on my cool side hanging around for the ambient temp. Thanks for the positive responses!!
 
Well it def looks like you been doing your homework & everything looks great! :) what kind of snake are you deciding to get?
 
yeah my temp raised to 92.6 and stayed there. I have my rheostat on low... I touched the glass and it doesn't feel hot enough to me to actually burn the snake..I'm confused.
 
See I think that may be the issue since its set up for 2 tanks. Don't quote me but I've heard ppl on these forums have the same issue. I use a $9 lamp dimmer from Home Depot. It works pretty good, u just have to mess with it sometimes, but not too often.
 
hmmm.. well shoot I ordered this rheostat off of petmountain.com that sucks. I guess I will be going to homedepot tomorrow. any idea which dimmer you bought?
 
I need to get the dimmer or something. I just keep moving my uth up and down to get it to stay in the 80s. I plan on getting something soon I may even orde sarahs tomorrow

Do you have a Home Depot around you? Can't you just go to the store to pick it up? Or a local hardware store? It's pointless to pay extra for shipping when you can get it at your local store.
