Hey everyone...
My name is Aaron, I live in NM on an Air Force base with my wife.
I am a big reptile enthusiast, I recently had a Bearded Dragon die though.
I will be getting a baby Beardie soon and I have some Leopard geckos and a Horny toad.

My reason for joining is because i like to do my research. I will be soon inheriting an adult (as far as i know) Albino (not sure exactly what it is) Cornsnake. He her him in (from what he showed me by his hand motions :) ) a 10 gallon tank. Possibly a 20, i'm hoping a 20L because i think that's appropriate. Anyway, he's got a UTH on there that he turns on in the winter and a dome light.

I'm not real sure as to what he's using right now for substrate, and i know that is somewhat of a debate anywhere. I'm not sure if i will keep her in the aquarium she's in because i've made a few custom enclosures for geckos and beardies, so i may just make one for the snake.

Well that's my introduction, i've been doing some reading on here the last few days and i think i have a pretty good start to what i need, but advice is always appreciated. Thanks everyone.

Hey Aaron, nice to see you over here. This is Ice from bd.org. ;)

If he's got a UTH, I'd scrap the dome light. They really just need the belly heat and since they're nocturnal/crepuscular they don't really 'need' the light. Lights tend to also lower your humidity.

Aspen is arguably the best substrate for a Corn. Definitely one of the best particulate substrates. Some others use shelf-liner, astroturf, paper, paper towels, etc. The same type of stuff you'd use for your Beardie (aside from Tiles, heh).

I built a custom enclosure for Tootse and it's working out really well, so if you want another building project, knock yourself out. I find a standard aquarium with a lid works just as well as anything, though. :)

Good luck and if you have more questions, PM me or something.

Yeah, the room where i will be keeping my reptiles is a little bit warmer than the rest of the house so i'm not sure i will even be needing the UTH for now. I'm not too concerned with giving it a temp gradient as it seems it isn't all that important as it is with other reptiles. Like i said, not sure what the corn is on right now but i will probably be switching to either aspen or shelf liner.. thanks for the comments
