New Viv Ideas and Questions

Hi :)

After replys from many of you, I have decided on getting a 40 gallon breeder tank ( it is called breeder because it is wider, longer and shorter. It is built for herps in mind). I was thinking about getting one of those reptile waterfalls, but I have heard that some people's leak. I believe it is made by Zoomed. If any of you have it, does it leak? I am also wondering what side of the tank I should put it on. Should it be on the warm or cool side? Also, I was wondering if anyone else had any decorating ideas. I am putting it on my christmas list so I dont have to buy it hehhe. Lastly, since Mythos is still small, and would be freaked out by the size of the tank, what would be a good divider to use? Or, would just tons of hides do the trick?

Lastly, is it true that your snake will grow bigger if he is housed in a larger tank?

Thanks!!!

well

I don't know about if it leaks or not, but the waterfall will certainly get crapped in! :)

haha

I didn't see that question.

No it is not true that your snake will grow bigger in a large cage. ! although I wish it was *L* Anyways, kept in a appropriate sized cage, or an oversized one, a cornsnake will grow to whatever he is going to grow too :)

Hey bmm, imagine that, talk of waterfalls, I should have seen this one sooner. Turtlez, there's a thread just posted about waterfalls with some good stuff to talk you out of that idea :) I'd put it on the cool side, if I were to get one.

There are some really cool and really long floating aquarium plants that I use (they're for herps too). The kinda look like a ling vine. They're a plastic plant and they provide long lengths for my corn to travel "undetected"

Lots and lots of hides will be necessary in a large enclosure.

what side of the tank I should put it on

You could always put it in the middle of the tank, if you have a corner unit one you can put fake plants or rocks (small) down the sides to make it look good..

Have you had a bad experiance with a crapping Corn?... ;)
Lots of posts about waterfalls and on every one you say about snakes crapping in it, do I detect a tone of a man/corn with a history here .... I was thinking about getting a Wf but the emotion in your posts convinces me otherwise. :D

haha

Actually I don't have experiences with the crapping in the waterfall but I certainly have experience with them crapping on every single thing I have used to make things look "pretty" *LOL* Everytime. A nice rock formation hide, crapped on and of course horribly hard to clean....etc etc!

My main focus is saving time on things I can so plenty is left over! I have 7 snakes, but I also have a large iguana, geckos, turtles (13 years old! young man still!) gerbils, mice and two jack russells. So saving time is a big deal for me! :) hehehehe
