Hello all,
Just checkong in from fl and I am about to get a corn viv set up. I have been lurking htese boards for about 2 days and absorbing a lot of info. Seems to be pretty basic as far as care...currently have 2 dogs, 2 cats some RES turtles and fish on a temp basis (depends on te turtles :uhoh:)

Not sure if I am going to build a viv yet or use a glass aquarium. If I build it will be shelving material (press wood coated) so I can make a bookshelf for some stuff as well. If I go this route, is a piece of glass in the bottom with the UTH te best way to do get a warm spot. I have also seen them just hung in the back...which is better?

Hi, Tim. Welcome, you're in good company, there is an excellent Florida representation here.
I have a wood viv with a lexan plate on the bottom for my heaters. You may get the right temps through a wood bottom, I suggest a test before building.
I used a plate because my viv is 3/4" plywood and I didn't get enough heat through it. I'm sure it saves me some money for power, too.
