Well, my daughter (5) was at her friends house who happened to have 4 corn snakes. Their mother told me she held the snake all day long (shocked me). So after much prodding (actually not much, she's my little princess and I am wrapped) and alot of research, we bought her one. Just a little ?girl?. Question is, is this an okeetee? Not up on all the variations and terms. Here she is:

 
Its hard to tell from the tiny picture lolz, but i think you have yourself a nice normal/classic/wildtype corn there. Okeetees are normals too, although they have thicker black saddle borders,

Ah cool, sorry my mistake i hadn't realised there were links.

Hes got some fantasticly bright reds on him!! very cool. A full body shot would help, but i still think its a normal/classic at the moment ;) What was he sold as?

Seriously though, I bought it at Petco so that's all they knew, I know, you shouldn't buy from them, but I went there several times handled it, etc. Talked to one of the employees who was an avid snaker (although more into pythons,boas, etc) and saw this one feed. I also went to a local herp show where there were only a few corns, but this was the best looking one I saw so I came back and bought it. Have had it for three or four days now and am getting ready to give it another feeding in a few days(last feed was on saturday).

If that were my snake i'd feed it every 5 days, you should check out 'The Munson Plan', its a very usefull feeding guide/plan, you can find it using the search function on the grey bar towards to the top of the page :)
 
I was thinking more often (I have read books saying once a week, some saying every 5 days) so with your prodding I'll give her a pinky tomorrow night. I had been searching and browsing these forums for a few days now and had seen the munson plan mentioned before and thought maybe it was another book. Thanks!

And typically a bright orange ground colour. ;)

To j'scorn: Welcome to the hobby and to the forums. There are many threads on the subject of the visual differences between Corns described as either 'Okeetee Phase Normals' or just 'Normals/Classics/Wildtypes' with good pictures posted by members. The search function is your friend. :)

Let us know if you have any more questions. There's a really good bunch of very helpful folk 'round these parts.

Thanks, I have used the search function many times. I have looked at numerous pictures (here and elsewhere) and being new at this, still wasn't sure which is why I asked others with more experience.
 
Without a pic of the entire snake, it's hard to tell if he/she is an Okeetee, especially at such a young age. As corns grow, their colors tend to change. The black borders to appear thick, but the orange is not as bright yet to be an Okeetee. But it's not to say that the orange won't brighten up as your snake grows :). Either way, your snake is very beautiful. Congratulations to you and your daughter :).
