Newbie feeding question - in/out viv?

Hi,

My snake Simon is due feeding for the first time tomorrow (first time by me anyways...).

I've heard you should not feed in vivarium because then it stops the snake associating your hand coming in with feeding time.

So I have a tub I want to put him during feeds, but if you can't handle your snake after feeding how would I get him back to the viv afterwards? Or is it okay to handle him gently just to transfer him back?

Sorry if this sounds like a silly question but I really do not want to harm my baby ;)

Thanks for any advice in advance!

When people say not to handle after feeding, they mean a long period of handling. You can pick him up to put him back in his tank.

I feed all my snakes in their enclosures an have never had a problem with them "biting the hand that feeds them". However, when my jungle carpet python was around 3 feet long (he's 8 foot now) I fed him in a "feeding tank". Went to pick him up to put him in his own cage an he went for me. Ever since then I've feed all my snakes in their own cages.
