Newbie Question: What are the 0.1, 1.0...etc?

I'm sure it's just general genetic notation...but what exactly does it mean? Kinda hard to search for this stuff, and i sorted through all the breeding/genetic forums with no result.
 
It's a way of explaining male female.
So if you just have one male it would be 1.0
If you had just a female it would be 0.1
If'n you had all three say...2 boys 1 girl and 3 unkowns it would look like this: 2.1.3 Hope that helps :D
