No shed?

Neyals

wannabe breeder
Hi there.

I have had my corn since sept 06 and it hatched in july 06, now what is confusing and worrying me is that it has only shed once while I have had it and that was october 14th 06. What may be causing her not to shed? She hasn't gone into blue or anything and I havn't found a skin. Do they shed less during winter? She has incresed the amount she is eating and she has grown a good few inches but still no shed!
Should I be worried?

Thanks in advance

I wouldn't be to worryed about it. Just make sure your temps. are right. Keep a healthy environment for your snake and It'll be fine. :grin01:

How often do you feed your snake and what size. Hatchling should shed once a month. Have you check throughout the bedding. As long as the are growing they should be shedding. So I would think you overlooked the shed or it's not growing.

If you got your snake in July, that means that hes at least 8-9 months old.

if so, he should be eating fuzzies, or maybe even hoppers.

mine was born in august and its eating fuzzies.

2 pinkies is WAY to small of a meal for a snake that old.

thats probably why it is not shedding very often

You judge by the girth of the snake, not the length. While most 19" snakes should be able to handle larger food than pinkies, sometimes you just get a really slender one. My 21" bloodred is still on pinkies and they leave a considerable lump in her belly. She is just really slim.

If pinkies aren't leaving a noticeable lump, then it's time to move up.

yeah they are leaving a noticeable lump, I will post a pick of it next time I feed her.

thats wierd. mine was born August 9th and hes 19 inches, and pinkies are just like finger foods to him
