what you need to do

You need to learn everything you can about corn snakes.
What they eat, their natural habitat, what they need for captive care and what the potential costs are.
Once you have this researched and can give your mother a complete rundown on what it will take to care for a corn snake and how much it will cost then you need to sit her down in front of the computer and take her to web sites such as Rich's, South Mountain and Corn-Utopia to show her the variety and beauty of corn snakes.
Then you need to take her to a local pet store or herp show and let her see corn snakes first hand.
If this doesn't work......roll on the floor and screem until she gives in......LOL....just kidding.

Im a big animal lover so our house was already filled with all kinds of animals (except snakes) including TONS of rescues all which were mine. My mom really supports my love for animals so if I take care of the ones I already have she normally lets me get more...... except when I brought up snakes. She went totally mad. My dad didnt care but of course said well not unless your mom says yes. I did TONS of research and found out all the information on ALL the snakes I could find..... then decided to start out with the simple ribon snake. I told my mom that it would only get to be about 3 feet and that they are skinny and eat fish. When she heard that they eat fish she was EXTREMLEY happy and let my get one (who I still have and love). Not less than a year I asked for another kind of snake the CORN SNAKE! My mom said sure because she had grown to love snakes because I had compromised with her and worked my way to my dream snake. Now that Im older and have my own house I can have as many as I want. Including my new snow corn that i just got 5 days ago!!!!

My advice is just work your way up. If you cant get her to get you a corn snake then ask for a different smaller kind. Mabye one that still eats mice but a smaller one. Then in a few years see if (for your birthday or something) you can get your dream snake!
