so my corn has a bunch of little dry looking spots on him. it almost looks like his scale is really dry and flakey and kinda looks like its been scratched on something. like it wants to peel off. i dont know if this is normal he only has a few and there not big but it kinda freeks me out when i see it. he is the only snake i have ever had so i just wanted to be sure its not a big deal? any help would be super awsome i posted one pic of his tail (where one of the dry scales is) and then another picture of the same thing but i circled the spot incase you coulant really see it.

thanks :)

Does he climb around in his viv a lot? I have a snake that loves to climb on everything inside her viv and she gets scales like that some times. I think it's where she's scratched it against something.

Do you know what that humidity is inside the viv? He might be too dry. You could spray some water around inside his viv once or twice a day. Just make sure it doesn't stay damp all day long. You don't want him to be too wet or that's a whole different can of worms!

he does climb around alot at night.

i have no idea what the humidity is sadly and when he is in shed i do make surre to spray water in but when i open the lid i can almost feel the heat / humidity its not to hot its just not ventilated as good as it could be because i had to get a new top (my cat broke my screen) so now we have a plexi glass top and its got a million holes so its not like he doesnt get air just not as much of an air flow as before

Until the experts chime in, I will ask. What was the last shed like? Was it complete? Could this be shed related?

I honestly think it's a side-issue to the original question but FWIW...

when i open the lid i can almost feel the heat
You shouldn't actually be able to feel the heat in the tank's air, unless the air is near human body temp.

What's the temp on the floor surface?
