Normal size??

Ok, I have searched for help on how big my corn should be at this time, but couldn't find anything...........
So, I was wondering if anyone could tell me the typical size my corn snake should be at his age. I would love any thoughts, guesses, comparisons, etc.
Anyways, he was born in July. He has eaten everytime I have fed him. Sometimes small fuzzies or 2 pinkies (depending on the size of mice at my store) and he has shed once for me since I have had him (I got him mid January). So, I would love anything I can get!!!

My normal was hatched in May '05. He weighs 40g and is 23" long. One thing I do know for sure, is that they are just like people and grow at different rates. Its partly based on genetics and how the individual's body uses the energy its given. It can also depend on how often its fed. My poor amel was on a maintenance diet of one pinky a week for god knows how long at the petstore he was at. He was 23g in April '05, he is now 110g, but it took him 3 or 4 months to actually start gaining weight. He had to "catch up".

I see. So, mine is about 14-15 inches right now. Not sure about his weight though. Does that sound normal?? I feed him twice a week.

Most of us gauge our snakes growth/size by weight as it's easier to be accurate that way. at that age I'd want the snake to have grown a little more but seeing it was at a place where growth was not an issue it's probably been fed 1 pink a week and hasn't grown all that much. Now that it's in your home, you'll probably notice a better growth rate.

Your snake seems to be similar to mine... My snake was born in august so hes probably slightly smaller, but he is about 12-14 inches long, and im not too sure about his weight but hes a good eater and so im sure its close to yours. and my snake has shed once since january as well (he seems to shed close to every 2 months) So id say your snake is about right for his age!

I have very limited experience but he seems a wee bit small to me. Like the others said it's most likely due to a "maintenance diet". My snow is an June '05 hatch that I picked up the first of Aug. she seemed to grow very slowly at first but just had a big spurt 6" in just under 3 mo! Now at 23" not sure of her weight. With your loving care I'll bet your baby will gain some length.

Happy Herping!
