Normal to remain motionless when held?

Our Kapatcho likes to be held. When in his viv, he is always under his water bowl..always! We lift up the bowl and he just sits there waiting for you to get him. When you first take him out, he is just as curious and nosey as the typical snake. And he is very strong so in order to get him to slow down you have to put a tiny bit of pressure on his upper part and look at him and say "NO" and he just stops mid motion and then you can hold him next to you with both hands and he coils himself all around them and just lays there. He will lay like that until you actually move him and the closer he is to you the better. Maybe he just likes the warmth. We finally got a dimmer for he and Willie's vivs and have the temps controlled at around 83-85. 20 years ago, I had a Burmese Python that did that--he would actually crawl onto your lap and stay there for hours. But he died after 3 months at about 3 ft long. I was never given care instructions (bad pet shop) so didn't know about the heating and all that so I am sure that is why he died. But is it normal for a corn just to lay still that long? Not even a flicker of the tongue either. Not complaining I love holding him next to me!!

Mine usually stops moving when he's about to poop or when something scares him lol. Other than that he's the typical on the move corn

I'm still waiting for mine to settle. She moves pretty well for the first couple of minutes that I hold her, and then all of a sudden, she stops moving and is very still for about as long as you are steady and still. Once I start to move around a little, she gets restless.

I think she wants to get away...silly snake, I don't want to eat you :eatsmiley

I have three here that will often settle down and just "hang out" with me. They too, just sit in one spot and do not bother to flick unless something gets their attention. Because they are alert when I take them out and they crawl around lots at first, flicking lots at first and there are no other signs of illness or concern, I know that they are just laid back snakes who are comfortable in my handling them and will relax in my hand(s).

Just goes to show that each corn snake has it's own "personality" and behaviours, some are more laid back, some a bit more skittish and some down right "rude/aggressive". That is just the nature of animals.

My 08 Amel and 09 anery are laid back like that. My 09 normal het amel stripe is a nut case, gotta go is his motto! Haven't had the others long enough to really know how they are.
