they will all be normal het stripe

unless they have hidden genes.
if your normal is het stripe then you would get some striped and some non striped hatchlings.

i'm assuming you plan to wait until they are a reasonable size? and get sex checked?
they are nice looking snakes.

I am only gonna start breeding after 18 months, and they are both almost 4 months old so dont worry about that, my boy honda is growing at an amazing rate though that photo is only 2 months old and he's almost doubled in size. so what does it mean if the normal is het striped? please explain, im a complete novice to the genetic stuff.

mean if bred to a striped some hatchlings will be striped.

if you breed 2 normal het striped, some hatchlings could be striped.
if you just breed a normal to a striped, you get all normals who carry striped.

Umm, will the female be big enough to mate in 18 months? My guess would be "no." Anyone want to elaborate on weight the female should be before mating her? I've never bred corns before, but I'm sure they should ideally be a certain weight.

Rule of 3--Females should be 3 yrs, 3 foot and 300 grams before breeding.

im a complete novice to the genetic stuff.

It is recommended that you read up on the "genetics stuff" before you plan to breed. There is a lot that comes with breeding that one should be prepared for. There are several good books published by experienced, long time breeders of cornsnakes.

You'll need to wait much longer than 18 months. Breeding a female that's too small can cause fatal complications.

Plan on waiting until 2011 to breed her... and get a gram scale.

As everyone has said, you need to wait until they are at LEAST 3 yrs old and 300g before breeding, males can be a bit smaller. :)

Email me if you have any questions. :) I'd be glad to help where I can! :)

I didnt realize, I've seen a bunch of care sheets that say 2 year old snakes can breed, but again, i would rather not take a chance, especially with my girl shes stunning, im pretty sure my male would be ready in 18 months though, i might breed with a friend of mine's snake, he's got a beautiful bloodred corn, thats about 2 years old now.

Thank you for all the advice, i really appreciate it.

Well, they are able to breed at that age but it is not safe for the females as snakes that are too young are more likely to have complications, like getting eggbound, which you DON'T want to have happen!!! :)
