Not another "how much should I feed" thread!

Yes, another one! First-time snake owner and I can't tell how much to feed my little guy.

I've seen the Medusa feeding plan and it says I should do two pinkies. He seems really small to me, not that I know. I just don't want him to regurgitate.

His stats:
Length: ~19 in.
Weight: 18 grams
Last shed: Dec 10
Born: July 21, 2012
I got him on Nov 15.

Here are some size pics, taken a few minutes ago, click for (much) larger -

I've been feeding him one small (1 day old) pinkie every four days. I have the med/lg pinkies ready to go for him, but I have almost 150 small pinkies and would rather go two small pinks for a while if it's safe.

I clearly need a new baby, but for now I'll worry about the one I've got ;)

Thanks for your help :)

hello there! :) I know what your going through.. I think the transfer over to double pinks is probably the scariest part for a first time snake owner. (not so much for the snake LOL.)

I read on multiple post that people and many breeders found the "munson plan or medusa plan" too aggressive for their hatchlings and that over all it led to an over weight snake. witch no one wants!

So what I did was wait untilled my snake was at least 22 grams.
at little past the munson plan. and he took them fine. he's actually getting close to his fuzzys now!

I hope this helps! but I'm not expert, this is just what I have read and it worked for me. :)

Thanks Justine. I think we both got our snakes at the same time, but it looks like yours is bigger than mine is now. Are you saying you fed yours one pinkie until it was 22g then went to two pinkies?

I'll use your progress as a rough guide ;)

aha, yes it does seem that way! and I just checked my papers.. I switched him when he was 21 grams actually. but close enough, and yup! he's grown quite a bit since the switch! :) he doesn't feel as "fragile" as he was when I first got him, which is always nice!

You can feed him 1.5 pinks for a while- I do that all the time. You can cut them in half while still frozen.

My little guy was born 6/17/12. I've never actually had a length for him. I switched him to double pinks early. He's been on them since he was 13g and he's done great. On the 17th he'll be 7 months. As of 12/15 he weighs 21g. I had started only feeding him every 6-7 days, but kept reading that that was more a maintenance schedule and bumped him up to every 4-5 days not too long ago.

Mine is about the same size so I might do like Amanda and wait until he gets around 20 grams to move up to 2 pinkies.I feel just like you and im scared about him regurgitating.

We got Rapunzel back in September and she was born at the beginning of August, in fact next week puts her at 5 months old. At about three months old she was 15 inches long and weighing 15 grams at that point I switched her to double pinks and we have not had any problems at all. I weighed her last night before her feeding and shes now at 18.5 inches and weights 28 grams. Next meal she'll be starting in on fuzzies so we'll see how it goes. I was actually surprised at the size of fuzzies they ones I got weren't much bigger than large pinks just more developed and fur covered.
