I have been away for a while, very busy with work, but I am back, with a little free time anyway. :crazy02:

So, I know there has been a lot of threads to due with not eating lately, I was reading them, but I didn't want to hijack them. So here's the scoop:

Nagini is 2 years old, female name, but pretty sure she is a he. Judging by size comparison of my friends corns around the same age and I know that is a poor comparison, but sex doesn't make a difference to me.

It has been 6 weeks, 7 on Friday if she doesn't eat again, and she still hasn't eaten. I feed f/t, and I haven't changed the way I warm up or feed. Separate container, and I usually will tease her body a bit to get her to strike and squeeze. Now all she does is run away, wont strike at all, and won't eat it if I leave it in her container, with the lid on and covered or uncovered. Now she has started to poop in the corner, with less and less substance to it, and then push the mouse in her poop. Yuck.

Also her/his behaviour has changed drastically. She used to be very shy, never violent to hold, but never roamed in her viv when I was around, she usually stayed in her rock. I always know where she is when I go get her. Now she is constantly roaming around going in and out of her rock or hanging her head out of the hole. She is currently doing this and resting her head on the log watching me. I will save my hand slowly near the viv just to make sure she is still alive. She/he isn't trying to push anything around that I can see as everything is way to heavy for her to push around.

I don't know too much about the behaviour during brumation, apart from glancing at the breeding section of Kathy's book a year ago, so I don't know if this is because s/he is looking for a mate and being restless, or looking for food, but being presented it, won't eat it.

I Have not tried live mice, because I would rather not if I have a choice. I don't want to get her hooked on live, or have her injured from not eating a live mouse. Like I said she isn't even striking when I tease her sides like I used to and if she is locked in her feeding container and cant escape an angry mouse as she is too passive.

Also, temps are good, lots of places to hide, fresh water. Thats everything I can think I should mention. Sorry for the long post, just trying to remember everything to save the questions about various things. Thanks for reading this far if you guys have stuck it out to here, and I'm hoping that someone can 'shed' some light on my little issue. Oh and she isn't sheding.

Hope everyone is well and I look forward to being back online more frequently.

Sure sounds like typical male behavior during breeding season. Hopefully he'll start eating again soon. I know you don't want to try live, but if you can get your hands on a live rat pup, that's something that I find most corns simply can't resist, and it's safe to leave with an unattended snake over-night. 7 weeks is a long time to go without eating, and if he's dropped alot of weight, you may want to give it a try. My males eat alot less during breeding season, but even the most stubborn will take food once a month.

:) Thanks for the confirmation. I will see if I can get a live rat pup from my local pet store. I'm glad that this behaviour isn't unheard of.

my snakes doing the same thing its the breeding season for you guess its cheaper on the mice during this time but for my snake its been almost 2.5 months i havn't tried in two weeks so this friday ill see what happens good luck with yours

A new batch of frozen mice, $15.

A fairly expensive little bottle of mouse scent, $20.

Watching your snake finally eat after 6 long weeks, Priceless.

I was doubtful that the mouse scent would do much, but as soon as she got a whif of it, she was literally vibrating!! I'm very relieved. Hope everyone else having problems feeding has success soon.
