Not Eating

It has been over a week since my corn snake was fed, I was on vacation, and now that I am home I have tried feeding him/her and the snake won't eat. I'm worried, because it has been nine days since she ate last. I think she is hungry, because she has sniffed around the pinkie mouse, but she just seems too distracted by being put into a different container from her habitat to eat. Any ideas or suggestions? Should I leave her be and try to feed her in another couple of days? Also, how long is the pinkie good for, just the first day? Thanks for any responses.

Is she in shed/blue? Was she feeding fine for you before? Was the pink VERY hot? If she seems distracted, I would just cover up the container with a shirt or towel or something.

Pinks only last a day or less.

Okay, so I got rid of the first pinky, and bought a second, but I put my snake in a smaller container that has opaque sides. She still seemed uninterested in the mouse. So I put her back into her habitat and left it at that. This morning when I woke up there was a huge white thing pressed against the habitat side. I couldn't make out what it was, because I didn't have my glasses on, but upon further inspection, I found it to be a shed. It was in one complete piece, which I hear is the right way to have a snake shed. Am I supposed to leave the shed in the habitat or remove it? Also, should I wait a couple days before trying to feed again, since she was clearly about to shed the last two days?

You should remove the shed. In this situation I'd try feeding again today with a fresh pinkie (I'd wait until the evening when she's more likely to be active). If she doesn't eat immediately, leave her with the food overnight again.

If she doesn't eat this time, then leave it a few days before trying again. If the shed was the only factor in the refusal, then with luck she should be good to go!

I wouldn't bother trying to feed her when she's in shed, ever again. If you can tell. I try very hard to avoid it anyway.

I've got one that hasn't eaten in a month. I'm trying the slit brain next. That just worked on one that didn't seem to want to eat. And an older one, 2011, that hasn't eaten since July 8th. He ate for me twice, then stopped.

Ya got to keep trying and not panic.
