November Road Trip....

I tried to get us in here before the actual opening but....

This is the Polk County Enviromental Center slated to open in November. I had the O.K. to get us in before but people come and go as it is and it is a construction site so the No Trespassing laws apply. It is the Circle B Ranch privately owned. But the owner, to avoid a sale to a developer, has partnered with the County to make a reserve.
I caught a Cottonmouth in the Spring. It is a wetland/oak habitat with a lake. The lake was dead but is now teaming with life. A huge variety of birds including Bald Eagles. Deer, pigs and even a panther.
The day I took the camera the birds all ran. And some good sized gators even in the shallower parts of the wetlands.
I have about 20 pics but I am having problems with the internet and having trouble with Photobucket. But here are a few....

Here are three more....

and I'll try to upload the rest. The area isn't really all that large so I thought we could also hit some other areas in Lakeland. Gator Creek or Saddle Creek, Green Swamp/Van Fleet area.
