Odd after dining behaviour...

In the land of Cheeeeeese
Last night (6/19) was feeding night for Roxanne so I took the liberty to weigh her, she tipped the scales at 42.42 grams. Her meal consisted of a 4.76 gram fuzzy. She ate like she has always eaten…voraciously.

She is in the midst of shedding and is as blue as blue can be.

Now the odd behavior, which I haven’t seen before. She spent last night and the entire day today holded up in her vine I have hanging from the side of her viv. I’ve never seen this after she has eaten and certainly not in the two previous times she has been in blue. Normally she’ll hang out on the warm side of her viv after eating and the cool side when she's about the shed.

What’s changed???

The temperatures are right where they have always been, 88 degrees on the glass on the warm side and 75 degrees on the cool side.

When I noticed she was in blue, I introduced a moist hide, just like the last two times she has shed.

I removed about 1/3 of her substrate and put it in her new viv so she’ll have a familiar scent when I introduce her to it. I replaced it with new, clean Aspen in her current viv.

I’m not overly concerned, but the lack of belly heat to aid in digestion does have me thinking of a possible regurge.

Would the new substrate really make her run for the high ground? Is it a combination of just eating and the fact that she's about to shed that has her out of sorts? Any ideas?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,
Steve

I wouldn't be too overly concerned. I've turned off the heat to my vivs since we got hot and they're around 80ish by day and 75ish by night and they do just fine.

I've noticed that when I change the aspen in my snakes tank he is extra cautious and often does a once over of the whole viv to check things out. Maybe its just a combination of all three things (new aspen, eating, and shedding). Sometimes they just decide where they want to be and stay there for a while, as Danny said its probably nothing to worry about. ;)
