Off season breeding??

Probable a silly question but....
Can corns be paired and breed later in the season?
And no not meaning breed spring and try to do multiple clutches.
If this is already posted then point me, couldn't figure out key words after trying to search.

Yes. You can dictate their breeding time by faking the brumation time. By "faking the brumation time" I mean dropping the temps below 60 for 2 to 3 months to start the breeding cycle on whatever date you want. Last year I started brumating my corns at the beginning of Sept so I could breed them earlier this year. If I wanted hatchlings in December I'd start brumation in May.

Here's a little timeline calculator that let's you play with the dates a little:

Thanks Vinny!!
I am sure there will be a lot of people grabbing that program!
I don't know if I will be able to get that much of a temp drop?
I will try to figure out some crude cardboard duct work off the air conditioner.
I know my male was ready to go this spring just from the light cycle. I guess I can do my best temp. wise and timer the lights and see what happens?

I used a portable AC unit to cool a closet and the exhaust hose went out through a hole I made in the attic access panel in the ceiling of the closet. Last year I put them in my laundryroom, covered them to keep the light out and mounted an AC unit in the Laundryroom exterior door. Both ways kept the snakes at about 60 - 63 degrees which seemed to work. The AC units I have can't be set below 60 degrees or I would have set them for 50. Where there's a will there's a way. :D

Yeah wish I had a basement....lost that in divorce :( Now I live in a really, really tiny apartment. I do have a storage closet/snake room in my unit, 7'x9'.
By 60 degrees do you mean the temp over all or do I still need to provide a warm spot? If I just run air conditioner full out I can probable live with 65 degrees.
Winter might be worse as I have no control of heating unless I can have really cold air temps but provide UTH heat??
Is 60 degrees pretty much the max temp? Is it still possible with 65 degree as long as the lights are timed.

Ok, did a little web price shopping on Home Depot.ca.
$280.00 for 8000 BTU A/C. Thats should get bedroom down to 60 anyways.
Guess I'll need a comforter for the summer, well winter too if I leave the window open a little. Good thing I don't pay for electricity.....:)

So now that I have that figured out how do you monitor temps? Digital air thermometer or still measure under the substrate or both? Do you cool the air down a bit farther and still provide some UTH?
I already have a heavy duty digital timer so slowly dial the light back and then leave at?? 12 hours per day?? How long do you take to get lights down to and back from short days, how long on short days?
Sorry for so many questions! I just really when to start working to see what I can produce, not that I am really that fussy to start, my main worry is that I will have a hard time parting with the babies!

Ideally it would be better to keep them around 50 degrees and that's with out any heat source. I haven't seen an AC unit that will keep it that cold. A lot of people wait for winter and leave a window open to the room they keep the snakes in.

I kept the snakes covered or in the closet with as little light as possible for the 2 months I brumated them. The AC units I've used had built in thermostats. I'm not sure how you would do it other wise. One thing to keep in mind... running an AC unit for 2 months straight is expensive. If you're planning on doing it in the summer it would be even more expensive depending on how hot it gets where you live. You might get ill when you see your first electric bill after doing this. Is there a reason you want to breed your corns at a different time of the year?

Just thought I would try and a lot easier to sell off season I heard?
And I don't pay electric so no worries there, I figure they keep putting up my rent every year and charge me just to have a parking spot so I will make sure to get my monies worth!! And the 8000 BTU is actually over rated for the size of my bedroom. I am going to play with getting it set-up and see what happens. I bet I can rig up some vent pipe with the fan in it to see what that will do if needed? If that works maybe some hard board insulation to hold the temps.
What do the snakes in the warmer states do (Florida), just rely on the light changes?

Oh yeah I can also get some nice breeders, good prices now as my friend/reptile dealer didn't have near enough room to breed them all this year
