Ok, I have three UTH's hooked up to one All-Life thermostat (made with three outlets) set at 82 degrees F for the warm side of my snakes. All vivs are housed in the same room in the same lighting, etc. The UTH's are the same size, but the variances in the temps are wide. One get can as high as 92 while the others are at 78 and 83. What am I doing wrong and how can I fix this? Thanks for any help.
 
A few questions:

Are all the cords to the UTH's the same length? Are any of the Viv's stacked? Are any of the Viv's near a window or heat/AC vent?
 
Even if they are set up the same you will have variances, but not as broad as the ones you describe. What type of mat are you using and how is it afixed to the cage? if there are gaps this will affect the temp. how is the probe attached to the cage and which cage? Other things that will change temps have been mentioned, others, could be additional heat lamps, how the cages are positioned with relation to each other, can the thermostat handle the watage of the combined heating mats? hope these suggestions help :)
 
Hi guys. All the cords are the same length. The uth's are all the same size. I have separate temp gages in each tank. I checked how they are stuck to the bottom of the tank. One of them (the hottest one) did have an edge that was up off the edge of the tank, but I would think fixing it would make it hotter.They are both set on the ground with spacers between the carpet and the tank so that they are raised about an inch off the ground. The trouble is, even though you can plug up to three devices to the All-Life thermostat, there is only one probe, which I placed in the hottest tank so that it can adjust the temps based on this particular temp. Any suggestions?

There is only one probe, that's how it works, placing in the hot cage is the safest way to do it, have you double checked the temps with a temp gun? are you using digital thermometers in the tanks? most thermometers have a + or - variance of up to 4 degrees or more depending on the thermometer (and it's accuracy)
having the cages close to floor, there can be all sorts of drafts, etc. personally I like to have them at least 12 inches off the floor with ample circulation between cages (3-4 inches)

I think I will try picking up a temp gun. I do have digital thermometers in all of the tanks that display the hot vs. cool side. Maybe I will see if I can elevate them a bit more. Thanks Whitelips. :)
