I hope this is not too off-topic for this forum. Basically, I saw a stunning red snake in a pet store a few days ago. It was being sold as an everglades ratsnake, but it was MUCH darker than any everglades I ever saw a pic of. It looked like an older version of our bloodred corn. In fact, this snake could have been a corn or corn cross because it's head seemed more corn-like to me than ratsnake-like. I think this was likely a wild caught snake, because it was an adult and had imperfections. This store did sell WC snakes. I am wondering if there are any natural cross-breedings between corns and everglades ratsnakes. Is it possible that the orgins of the bloodred could have been from similar beginnings? I almost bought the snake because of it's deep red color, and deeper red stripes. If it had been captive born then I would have. If I had a camera with me I would have taken a pic of that snake.
Any thoughts? Anyone have everglades rats that turned a deep red (not orange) color?
