heys guys im getting a corn snake soon and i have an old cage which i used to house a bearded dragon i was wondering will i have to clean the old cage before i house the corn snak in it or is it ok to leave it the way it is???? another question i have will they be able to smell each other in the same room and will they annoy each other???

thanks in advance

You will have to completely disinfect the tank and any fittings that you intend to re-use.

Make sure you have the correct setup for a Corn - for example, it will not need UV light as the Beardie did and it will not bask and so does not need an overhead heat lamp and hot spot. An undertank heater (UTH) + thermostat seem to be the most commonly recommended heat source for Cons - these are what I use..

Beardies and Corns in the same room should be fine.

I don't know about the smell. Do you mean the corn and the beardie? Mine are in the same room... don't seem to have problems with it.
I held a corn to the glass of the beardies cage once, and she (beardie) walked over and stuck her tongue against the glass. I guess she thought it was a really big juicy worm :)

And yes please, clean it and maybe desinfect it. It's always good to clean when another animal is housed in a cage. and even more when it's an old cage that might have stood there collecting dust.
