Ok. So I just realised out of my 2 week old rats I have a one-eyed rat. So I decided to post a pic. My B/f thought something was wrong with her at first. But shes just has 1 eye. Sorry if the pics are kinda big. But thats how my camera takes them

I know. It was weird. when she was a pink she had 1 black eye and the other i thought was going to be pink... but i guess not. I had a mouse that had that....1 balc eye one pink eye

2 of our big hamsters have one red, one black eye... And surprise surprise the male is called Damien :devil01: :devil01:

oh wow, if I could get a pic without getting bitten......my burmese gerbil Timmy was born with only 1 eye too, unfortunately he has 'temperament issues'

I have some that grow up to be one-eyed. It is usually a result of one of their dams (females) stepping on them, play fighting, or a run in with the wire mesh.

The bad part of them having only one eye is that they are easily startled. That kicks in their fight or flight response ... as their is nowhere for them to run to they usually bite back.

The multi-colored eye is usually referred to as "odd eyes".

Thanks for the post, that could explain the gerbil's issues, he is the nastiest thing I've ever owned, even changing his food is an adventure!

My rat was born that way. I've kept an eye on her since she was born. She however is the calmest rat I have.
