Just one question.

I have a ball python whose vivarium needs the humidity increasing, i have moved the bowl closer to the heat source and want to add a live plant. does anybody know what a good plant would be and would not be harmfull to the snake? thanks

Is the plant for humidity? If it is, forget about it. Unless the viv is packed with plants I doubt it will alter the humidity that much. You can have a much bigger impact on humidity by restricting airflow through the viv and putting some kind of media in the viv that will hold moisture like sphagnum moss or paper towels.

Or you could make a humid hide box.

To answer the other part of your question, I don't think any plant will harm your snake unless it has pickers or spines. Also stay away from plants with toxic sap that will come out if the snake breaks a stem - like a rubber plant.

If I were you I would look into a "zz plant" (I think they may be from Africa, just like your snake :)) I'd also look at the conveniently named "snake plant" (also called mother-in-law's tongue). Also look at the "cast iron plant". All of those plants are sturdy and will tolerate anything except over watering.
 
But be aware that your snake will mash any plant flat in no time. It really won't last long.
 
yes it is for humid reasons because the vivarium does not stay very humid for long.

I think it may be the fact there is too many ventilation holes and some may need covering.
