One Snake Several Questions

That's a sad story. Glad you were able to adopt the snake before anything bad happened to him. That is some serious neglect. Pretty snakes!

Thanks again everyone luckily no bites yet lol. For the past couple weeks Lurch has been settling in nicely I'm working on getting him used to being held and handled. The first couple attempts were a little sketchy still trying to squirm away lasting maybe a minute or less at a time last Sunday we made it all the way up to five minutes and today with a the exception of a few small squirming outbursts we made it to 30 minutes! Still a bit more active than Medusa when being held he's almost always moving forward where as medusa gets into her comfort spot on my hand and is perfectly content napping there for days if I'd let her. But we are making progress none the less. Which gave my wife the opportunity to snap a picture for me. Also I'm trying to stop guessing as to if Lurch is actually a male and Medusa is actually female so my wife was also kind enough to get some pictures of Medusas vent / tail area to see is anybody can lend a hand on properly determining who's who... Will get a picture of Lurchs vent / tail when I get him comfortable enough to sit still long enough for a picture. Thanks again for any help and following Lurchs new chapter in life :)

Thanks Karl I know the only sure fire way of telling is probing or better yet if they lay eggs but can't seem to find a reptile vet around me yet for probing not comfortable enough to do it myself

yeah it's best not to do it. You can injure the snake. It's a guess, you got at least a 50/50 shot, and judging by the photo I'm say a little girl, but that's a guess too.

It's super easy to tell with Boas. The male boas have hooks next to their vents, (the remains of hind legs millions of years ago.) But when God created Corn snakes I guess he wanted to watch us scratch our heads.
