You Savvy?
I've noticed this problem for three years now.

Over the winter monthes the house is dryer because of the heating system so I sprayed a little more water into my snake's viv to keep the humidity at 50%.

She still doesn't shed from November until January or February. So this year I tried gradually increasing the humidity until she sits at about 60%, still nothing. She doesn't seem to be in any discomfort, eats regularly, poops regularly and shows no aggression when handled.

All together she looks and acts like always, just no shed.

Any solutions/explinations or reasons for concern would be appreciated. :dunce:

Well, if she's a 3 year old snake, she probably only sheds 3 - 4 times a year anyway. You can always pick up a room size humidifier (we have several all over the house) to keep the room she's in up to 50-60%

Another thing to consider is using moist hides.

I just started using them this year and have noticed a difference.

To make a moist hide, I use a Gladware container with lid. I cut a hole big enough for your snake to get in and out in the side, then filled it 3/4 full with damp sphagum moss (you can also use paper towels).

BTW, this was not my idea. I followed the directions of many people on this site.

Your ambient room temperatures may be lower during the winter months (even with the use of a heater) and you snake may be going into a sort of partial brumation. My king snake doesn't eat much at all during the winter months and never sheds.

I have them in the yearlings and the new one's tanks, but there isn't enough room in Kieran's tank for a container big enough to hold him.... of course, he doesn't seem to have a problem shedding.

Another possibility is to use one of the dirt type beddings (can't think of what the compressed bricks are called) on one half of the tank and aspen on the other half. I did this for awhile and it seemed to help. Just re-wetted the dirt stuff while feeding if it needed it.

The bowls work a lot easier. I leave them in 24/7 and the kids seem to like them even when they aren't about to shed. I put them over the end with the UTH, so I'm thinking it might be just right in there :)
