I just handled my snake for the first time (since the pet store) this morning and he seemed just fine! Docile and nice and everything. But think he just randomly opened his mouth at me. It didn't seem agressive or anything but I put him down and now he's just laying there- oh he's moving now.

Does this sound like he wants to regurgitate, even though there's not a lump there anymore? Does it usually take a while for it to reach the mouth? Ahhh I hope I didn't handle him too soon! I was gentle and everything. ><!!
 
i think he will just be re-aranging his jaw line since when they eat they have to 'un-pop' their jaw to fit the mouse through so nothing to be worried about
 
oh thank goodness. xD I've been scared that he was going to regurgitate as soon as I put him down! I was like, "AHH! Why on the first handling?! Why?!"
 
how many days was there inbetween your snake eating and you handling it for the first time?, yes sometimes corns appear to yawn, and stretch their jaw after a meal, but if it was days afterwards then maybe there could be another reason for it.
Although ive never seen it before myself, ive heard that a slightly opened mouth might be and early sign of a respiratory infection, not trying to worry you though, im sure all is well!
 
It looked just like a yawn, really. And it was -approximately- 54 hours after he ate.

There's still a little lump but I notice that a lot of corns are wide around the middle so I assumed that was the case for the most part. I figure if he was going to regurgitate from handling he would have by now. It's been three hours!

I think it just freaked me out. xDD I'm a really protective pet owner, especially since I'm no snake expert.

yeah that yawning thing does sound more harmless!

about the handling after eating though, its usually thought best to leave your snake about 3 days, or untill their first post eating poo is in the viv!
Although corns do get gradually fatter towards 2/3 rds of the way down, they shouldnt have little bumps/bulges in them, this must mean your snake had some mousey left in his belly, and although he didnt regurge you could still be risking one.

Hmmm. I may have miscalculated my hours, I think. I got him around 5PM on Saturday and the guy said he'd eatned at 2PM. Then I handled him today (Tuesday) at 10AM. Does that sound about right? I guess I probably should have waited 'til later today, I think. Shoddy math on my part! Argh!

He's certainly gone to the bathroom a lot, too. ><;; Pretty much every time I'm like, "Okay, no more to clean up after!"
 
I answered your post on the other section where you said he had liquid coming out. Sounds like a respiratory infection to me. You need to see a vet. Bump up the temps to around 90 in the meantime.

You don't need to avoid handling him but for about 48 hours. Oh, and I answered in the other thread, too.
