Technically, they are illegal to own in Washington. When I first bought mine, I knew that but figured that at some point it hadn't been illegal & that's how they first got into people's collections. However, from what I've heard since, they have always been illegal to collect in Washington, so all of the the CB ones out there are from illegal parents.

Beardies were smuggled out of Australia, and look how popular they are :dancer:
 
Well if you think about it, this is the case with a lot of reptiles, right?

Mainly Aussie reptiles come to mind, like beardies, frillies, Goanas, carpets, numerous venomous (all of which are a pain in the butt), blue tongues, anyone got anything else? And of course there is CITES protected animals, local wildlife enforcements, etc.
