Seeing as how my "Tequila Sunrise" line F1's are ACR registered "suspect rat/corns" I went both ways with them this year; bred the male to a ratsnake, the female to a corn...

First eggs down, too

VMS Herps has a yellow rat listed as the possible culprit...

I have been waiting for someone to do this outcrossing to see what happens. I really wanted to pick up a pair of tequila sunrise a couple months ago but didnt know if they were really hybrids or not. This should give a lot of people a better understanding, can't wait to see pippies.

I don't know if it will solve any debate on whether or not they are rat/corn crosses. I haven't seen any pictures of other crossings that have been done with this line. I would have to imagine the original breeder (Sean Niland of VMS) has crossed a few out, but I've yet to see any pics on his site. The site lists a yellow ratsnake possibly involved, but I sure haven't seen a lot of yellow/corn crosses; the ones I have don't look anything like mine, or for that matter the original "TS" female. For her to get the babies she's thrown over the past few years, especially when she was first bred (to a ghost het amel) she'd have to (well, probably) be an anerythristic A het hypo and amel, (Think thats how she's listed on the ACR) and there just seems to be more going on. Then again, by no means am I knowledgeable enough to say "Yes they are" or "No they aren't". The breeder was adamant in his belief they weren't; another "big breeder" who's opinion i'd trust believed they were :shrugs:. I flip flop on them (lol I know) but I will point folks to the breeders website and the ACR so they know as much about them as possible and go from there.
