Over 260g big for a yearling?

I just bought a snow stripe that was five months old and weighed 16 grams. You can imagine my expression when I heard how old he was. Though he was like two months or something. >_> Totally underfed. He's gained some 6 grams since he came though, not gonna ltake long for him to catch up.

As long as they are being fed appropriately and eating well, they will grow at their own rate. Personally, I think too many people put too much into weights and growth rates. You gotta remember, these are long lived animals, so they will take a little bit to grow up. There's no rush to get them to full grown size. Don't overtax their bodies just because you want a big snake.

Whew, thanks for calming my nerves with the replies! It's good to know that with proper feeding, he'll gain weight and grow to the normal size for his age. This is my first snake and I've had him for only 5 days, so I was pretty freaked out when I read everyone else's replies about their yearling weights! Ahhh I'm calm, I'm calm! :)

They start getting pretty big anyway once they're off of pinkies, steady feeding tends to lead to a steady growth but of course they all grow at their own rates like people.
But I mean my 06 was 24grams in may. As I said earlier she's 101g last I weighed her. I fed her an appropriate sized prey item every 5 days then every 6 and now every 7. She even had a regurg her second feeding and got pushed back down to pinkies for a few feedings.
You'll be amazed at how quickly they do grow.

when my corn( 3 months 50 grams+) hit eating two pinks and processing them at a fast rate I switched over to rat pinks and worked up in size. Snake isnt fat by any stretch. Just a hungry little girl her temps are fine and very rarely refuses a meal. great growth.
