Well, as some will know a while ago i had a small fire in a good Viv of mine, nothing was in the viv, thank god, but It was a good viv, and I would like to be able to use it again in the future, I was wondering if there is a paint in england that I would be able to paint over the fire burn? like a glossy paint? or any kind of safe paint...

I would think any latex paint would be safe as long as you let it dry thoroughly. I know that this was covered at some point on the forum so click on the seach button and type in paint and see what comes up. I can't remember what people were using, and I have melamine in my cages.

If your trying to cover up where it's burned, I know the paint doesn't always like to stick where it's charred. I don't know if they have it where you're at, but over here there's a paint called Kilz. It's toxic unless you paint over it with latex or whatever other paint you're using. Kilz covers ANYTHING(one coat will cover a black wall with white paint).

Kilz is a type of primer. She is right in that you will probably have to sand and prime first, then paint.

Okay thanks, I will probably end up sorting the Viv out, and then using it for my future Leos, the smell of smoke is completely gone, and the burn is covered with electricians tape, so I don't see any reasons why it would be a problem housing the Leos in it, also, they don't dig eather do they? if not then the substrate would be another cover up as well as the tape..

I wouldn't use electricians tape as any heat or especially humidity will cause it to come loose leading to taped Leos! I know...I taped my Green tree python to her perch when the tape holding a branch down came loose. Never again!

Okay thank you, I think I will use a heavy hide, or put something over the burn mark, I'm pretty sure leo's don't dig, if they don't then I could just cover the burn, and then the substrate will finish the job, : ) thanks! :D

No problem. There's nothing more horrible than looking into a cage in the morning and you go....What the #$%%$?????? It would probably still be a good idea to prime and paint the area anyway to keep urine and fecal matter from ending up in the wood. It will be easier to keep clean.
