Finally! Just got home from a party and decided to check on that troublesome amel female of mine. Found her coiled around a nice clutch of healthy white eggs. And the cool part is I counted around 15 and she's not even halfway done from the looks of things! YIPPEE! Just thought I'd share...I'll post pics tomorrow. Nice surprise coming home to see that.

and the total is...

28, all white healthy and fertile. I kept finding more and more left and right when I 'raided her nest' today. Unfortunately she still has one inside of her that is right at the vent but hasn't come out...she's been trying to push it out all day but no luck. Maybe she is either too tired or it is too big. Should I give her another day or so before taking additional steps? I went ahead and removed the rest of the eggs.

Here's a pic of mom with eggs...you can only see a few of em tho

substrate question

congrats on your new eggs, just came in from work and found same amount (28) no matter how many times it happens its a great feeling every time. The other reason i posted was just wondering what substrate that you have used in the photo of your corn and eggs it looks like sand ?Good luck with the next two months Gazzacorn

Yep it is always awesome finding eggs. 28 is the new high for me...most of the time I would get around 12 or 13, but this is a new snake I've had since July of last year and this is her first year reproducing with me. Actually my incubating medium is vermiculite mixed with spagnum moss...kept really moist. It did the job pretty well me thinks.

Good Luck with your snakes and eggs
