Peaking his head out

YAY! I just wanted to say that I'm very excited that my snake is sticking his head out of his little hiding place finally. I hope he ventures out a little bit :dancer:

Once he gets acclimated to his surroundings he will start coming out more and more. I have had mine for almost a month and she is like a different snake now compared to when I rescued her. She stays out of her hide for hours at a time and could care less that we are all huddled around her...

Of course it made a huge difference when I purchased 12 ft of plastic vine from my local craft store. She felt much more hidden once that was in place.

So I can go to a craft store and buy something like that? It wont be bad for them or anything? And what about wood for them to climb on? My set up is pretty basic right now. And I really want to spice it up for him.

The vine I got has no wires in it so it is safe for the snake. I actually have it wrapped around a cedar branch that I sanded then applied a few coats of clear schlack to it. I know that cedar and pine can be harmful to snakes but as long as it is coated well, it shouldnt be a problem.

Just wanted to update, he has started cruising around the tank finally, keeps going in his hiding spot and coming back out to climb on everything. I'm so excited about it :) I will be posting pictures of him in the photo gallery section :)

Yes, that is a deer antler.....but there is a cedar branch in there somewhere that I wrapped the ivy around...

Great set up! I was surprised that my new baby (second corn) I just got on Tuesday instantly started wandering around and hasn't really tried to hide at all, only while sleeping during the day of coarse. It is crazy though how corns can be different. My first corn hid all the time and still does whenever I am in the room. I'm glad yours is coming around though.
