Pet in Oregon?

I'm looking for just a pet quality corn snake in Southern Oregon, I've wanted a corn snake for a long time and have finally decided I'm ready for one. I'd prefer a hatchling, so that I can raise it myself. I'm not too picky on color, though from what I've seen I like the Anery patterns and the darker colored morphs, especially the charcoals, lavenders, and the cinders. I've been reading up quite a bit on them for some time now, and I'm well used to responsibility as I raise and show Netherland Dwarf Rabbits, and co-own a Goat Dairy. Time and devotion isn't an issue, and the snake will be with me for it's entire lifespan. I've been attempting to locate breeders near me, but Southern Oregon seems to be pretty bare of them from what I can find. I don't want to ship if I don't have to, but it's looking like I will so the closer the better for the sake of my budget : )

I'd prefer to not pay a high price, and from what I've seen most pet quality young corns aren't that spendy.

Any and all recommendations would be great! Thanks.

Hi there fellow Southern Oregonian! I come from thatta way, and I know what you mean they are pretty barren down there as far as any exotic pets go. I really don't think you'll find a baby down there unless it's from a petstore and it's better to get one direct from a breeder. There is hope though, you wouldn't have to pay for shipping just a day drive to Willsonville, OR. for the PDX Reptile expo Jan. 22nd that's a Saturday. http://www.pdxreptileexpo.com/ (show coupon at bottom of page)
There will be at least 5 reputable breeders of corn snakes there with what's left of their 2010 hatchlings, I got three there last year, and I go every-time to buy supplies and visit with the wonderful people from this forum who are part of Pacific NW Cornz social group, which your invited to. Please feel free to PM me with any questions. Glad to have you on the forum, Welcome :D

Shows

Thanks for such a speedy reply!

I'd already tried looking up the shows, and unfortunately that one is a little farther than I can go. I can't make any trips that would have me gone from the farm for more than a day, I have too many responsibilities here that few people can do haha. Not to mention, Gas in the car I have would cost as much as shipping one, it's older than me and while an amazing car that has never let me down, it's a guzzler. Wilsonville is actually quite a ways away from me : / It would be over 490 miles round trip, which in an 89 Volvo is a hell of a lot of gas haha xD

It's too bad you can't make it to the show, that's where the best Corn Snakes in Oregon will be. Shows are GREAT fun. Perhaps there will be a local show around where you live though. We get shows in Eugene that aren't quite as big as the Portland show, but there's a decent amount of selection there.

Also, talk to Wendy, or Jenn.

These two are Oregonian Corn Snake breeders, and could perhaps offer you a shipping discount because you're in state. You may have to pay a little more for shipping, but getting a healthy thriving snake from a breeder is better and usually less expensive in the long run.
