PetCo Aquarium Sale (Dollar Per Gallon)

I've been waiting (somewhat impatiently) for several months for this sale. I saw a posting on Tumblr and confirmed with my local store. The dollar per gallon sale is going on from 12/28 - 1/24!

I believe some PetsMart locations will match this sale.

I just got home with a 30gal for the snake I'll get sometime in the new year. Just thought I'd share the information in case others find it useful!

I wish that they would include reptile tanks in this sale. For me, it isn't worth it to also have to pay full price for a lid and then also have to get clips or velcro to secure the lid.

Ahhh! We just got a new 55 gallon. It is going to be a high tech planted, with a semi-aggressive community. Love this sale!
Just before Christmas they had a sale on reptile kits here. The 20 gallon snake kit was about $115.00. Idk if that was a good deal since Idk the normal price.

Is 55-gallon the largest size for the sale? I have a 55, but would really like a 90. Although, now we're talking thicker glass, so probably not cheap.

They didn't have anything larger in store here, but I think it really depends on the store. If you call them, they might order one to the store for you. Our store had a 120 gallon tank for the sale last year, but it took a long time to sell, so that might be why they only have 55 gallons this year. They take up a lot of floor space.

yeah, calling ahead is definitely a good bet. Unfortunately, they do tend to sell only the glass tank without a lid, clips, or other accessories. They also tend to have mostly 10 and 20 gal tanks. It seems to be a deal with Aqueon products more than anything else. Still worth it for new projects!

I actually wanted mine without a lid or any accessories, as the kits never have the lighting, filters, ect. that I want. My boyfriend and I were able to find an amazing deal on a canister filter for only $50.00, and the stand we bought was a good deal at $100.00 brand new. We won't be using a hood, but we will be using 2, 48" LED light strips. That will be the most expensive part of our set up. I haven't decided 100% for sure yet, but I am lean in toward a Drs. Foster and Smith semi-automatic CO2 kit for the plants. This is going to be our first "high tech" aquarium, so I am pretty excited.

For the snake, I did buy a kit when they had the deal, but it was not a snake kit, just a general reptile kit, and I still ended up buying all different stuff to use with it, so now I am not so sure it was even a good deal. I paid $30.00 and all I ended up using from it was the tank itself, and the lid and locking clips. It's a ten gallon, so had I waited for this sale, I might have paid less just buying those pieces separately. I ordered my UTH, thermostat, thermometers, and decor, all online because it was cheaper.

Whaaaaaat? You Americans get the BEST sales on things. You'd never see a sale like that here! Hard to even find a used aquarium for those prices...

Just thought I'd share a pic of the new tank now that it's set up. I'll be acclimating fish today to start fish-in cycling. :)

I bought my 40 gal broader tank last year on one of these sales. Paid $40 for the tank. Reg price was $120. Reptiles were also 50% off with the pals card. In the end I paid about $140 for the tank, screen top, clips, EcoEarth, and my ball python.

I find used tanks at at various places (yard sales, thrift stores, craigslist etc) 10 gallons are pretty common But sometimes there are bigger ones. I can't remember ever buying one new. Unless my parents did when I was a kid.

You have to know pricing, though, because sometimes people have some stupid ideas about the value of their stuff.
