Petco

Aislinn

So I went to Petco to get a new feeder tank for Aislinn and thought I'd meander to the reptile section. The selection was as promising as a African Winter Olympic team, but they had about 6 baby corns, 2 of which were ghosts, and 1 candy cane (could have been an Amel, but it didn't look like one). I thought they just sold normals, does anyone else's Petco sell different morphs?

Ours has had snows, anerys and amels before. They've also sold Emoryi as corns. I don't go too often, but I'm sure they've had a couple other varieties as well.

By the way, candy canes are amels. ;)

What Carlos said: Candycanes are line-bred amels.

The Petco I used to manage had nothing but normals, amels, and anerys. To see a ghost there would have been a complete surprise.

Kudos on the African Winter Olympic Team line, btw. :)

jazz

I saw an all white one with green spots. And not green as in mold, green as in actually green. I really wanted it but my dad said no.

Gah. I failed to mention snows too.

And that "all white with green spots" could very well have been a snow, as well.

Back to the Packers/Seahawks game.

I understand completely.

Like Chicago Cubs fans in May, it's that time of the year when Browns fans say, "maybe next year". :grin01:

We say, "maybe next decade"

Petco used to buy from Gormet Rodent, and when I was working there sometimes they would just send whatever. I got a beautiful ghost from there.

I don't know who they use now but most times the seller will just put whatever in there so sometimes you get lucky, well if they have a good reptile speicalist =)

They mostly sell just normals, snows and albinos but once in a while you see anerys, ghost, motley stripes and zig zags. I've seen some amazing stuff come through.

I have got a couple of cool animals from PetCo..

Normal aztec, who knows what the hets are..

Now THAT is an aztec animal... who would have thunk you could get something that pretty at Petco????

Of course around here all you see are snows and occasional amel.

Wow the Aztec was a Petco find? I looked at similar threads and saw someone picked up a striped Anery to...I might go back and look at the Candy Cane some more

Here is what I noticed with PetCo... Finds like the ones I have have come from checking out the corn snakes there over a 1 yr and half time.. Of course the Aztec had to come home with me, but that little hypo made me go humm.. I figure, I just lucked out, and found a shipment containing someones not so important off spring.. ( likely Bill Brandt, unless he is not suppling PetCo any more )...

Topside look of the Aztec....

Definitely can see what you felt the need to bring it home :) I always check them out, just because... but haven't found anything that screamed at me to put it in my pocket :)

IIRC, Petco gets their corns from one of two vendors; Gourmet Rodent (serving mostly the east) and California Reptile (serving mostly the west).

Not to besmirch Mr. Brandt, but this may explain the more "exotic" morphs that Tim has.

Don't get me wrong, two of my first three corns were from Petco - J.D., my big amel, and Ansel, who I consider a "classic" looking anery. Both are great eaters and are as sweet as lambs. Both were from Gourmet Rodent.

Ah ha.. I bet mine came from California Reptile.. Thanks to Dale's past expeiriance with PetCo, I would think your that is most likely, considering I exist out here.. *lol*

And the Midwest? :)

Well, most would consider where I'm from "Midwest", and as stated, the Petco I managed got their corns from Gourmet Rodent.

However, the "dividing line" may very well be the Mississippi. :shrugs:

Just a guess here, but I'd think your best bet is to check out the F/T section at your local Petco. If the rodents are from Gourmet Rodent, I'd venture to say that the corns and BPs are from Bill as well.

Actually, in the west it's Cal Zoo (California Zoological Supply.) I friend of mine that was the reptile specialist at a Petco for some time told me. I tried to get him to order me some House Snakes through there.
