PICKY CREAMSICLE BABY

I just got a baby Snow girl and a baby Creamsicle girl. My snow is great, and she'll eat anything that I put in front of her that smells mousey... My creamsicle on the otherhand refuses anything unless it's live. That's ok for now, Pinkies are harmless, but I don't want to feel live adults when she gets older... I have heard too much about snakes getting mangled by a panicked mouse... Are there any ways I can try to get my creamsicle to accept pre-killed food?

sure

Try feeding your Creamsicle her normal live pinkie. Right after she has swallowed this (lump in neck moving down) place a thawed prekilled pink in front of her. Usually the eating mood makes them take this prey item as well. You might have to try this a few times to adjust your timing but it should work.

Then after she has accepted this you should be able to slowly wean her on to taking that mouse first, and only. Other methods work too and I am sure someone will share more tips.

bmm is right but it is a matter of time and alot of patience but coaxing them with one live and then one thawed is the best way of doing it :)

I'm no expert but I've heard of some people cutting open their dead pinkys so the snake can smell the blood.. Hope this helps.

Cutting open the pinkies head works... I had a hatching that wouldn't eat the pinkie I had for him... It sat in his feeding cage for 30 min... when I cut its head open, he gobbled it right up.

Good luck!
