Pinkie or Fuzzy?

Hi. My snake is feeding well on two pinks at a time now. I am wondering how big he has to be before I start offering fuzzies. He is around 20inces long but quite thin. What do you think?

PS. I will try to get some feeding pics up soon so as you can have a look at his size compared to his food.

Thanks
Luke

Feeding 2 pinks is usually the first step to introducing fuzzies. So it really depends on how many times your snake has taken two pinks and if there were any problems. I feed my babies two pinks 5 times with no problems and then I moved to fuzzies. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply.
I only feed him two pinks every Wednesday but I have a feeding record and i am planning to move him up to Wednesday and Saturday in the next few weeks. Unless you think I should do that now? I did do all my research before I brought my snake but im a little iffy on the size/feeding thing? :shrugs:

Thanks

How many times have you fed him 2 pinks? If he has taken 2 pinks more than a few times without any regurges, then I would move him up. They prey should be about 1 & 1/2 times bigger than the width of the snake and should leave a noticeable lump. I know how it feels...I was SO nervous to move my babies up to hoppers. They looked so big!

He has taken two pinks a few times with no problems now. I only have a couple of pinkies left in the freezer. Just enough for one more feed next week. Do you think I should get some fuzzies after this?
Thanks

Yep...finish what you have and try moving him up! Like I said, find a fuzzy that is about one and a half times the width of your snake. And I notice that frozen mice look bigger than when they are thawed. Then just keep an eye on him. If he can't get it down, then he will stop trying and if he gets it down and it's too big then he will most likely regurge, so remember to watch for that for a few days after he eats. If he does regurge...you can treat him with Nutribac (use the search function on this forum for info on Nurtibac) and don't feed him for 10 days or so. Then move back down to either one large pink or two small ones for a couple of feedings before you try again.
