So recently I've been getting into some really interesting fish keeping. Its my first time keeping fish as an adult (its been years hah) and man am I loving it! Heck its just about as addictive as snakes! Any who, Ive not got my new apartment set up yet, but these are the two tanks Ive been planting and setting up. still playing around with them and they are still growing but they are a ton of fun!

enjoy!

Once I got ACTUAL lights set up and in. I got marine grade so they could penetrate the water and surface plants, and seems to be working so far!

That's an awesome tank for a betta! :)

Otos are totes adorbz as well. I used to have some with a school of tiger barbs.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF OK I AM JELLY

So jelly.

I love aquariums, they're my hobby aside from corns. I really really love how you set up the bigger tank. What are the dimensions? Are the lights LEDs? Do you use fertalizers at all? Doesn't look like you'd need them in the bigger tank but I notice that hairgrass in your smaller one.

IME hairgrass does much better with a really strong light and some kind of carbon, either excel or a CO2 system. I mean in low light it exists, but hardly grows. At least for me.

And because I can't resist, my 10gal.

Times like this I wish I was a contributor so I could go back and replace those giant monstrosities with smaller photos.

ahh! yours are awesome toooooo! Pfft smaller pictures :p chrome loves me and resizes them to a lovingly nice size heh.

I use ferts in both the tanks, and yeah id like to swap out the light on the smaller one because the hairgrass is bleh and i think it needs something more powerful! >:D

oooo you make me want to get another tank! Though I think im just going to move my smaller one to work heh!

ahh! and I wish i could go back in time and actually answer your questions hehe!

the small is a standard 10gal the big is a 29gal tall that I had my rat snake in for a while and finally found a use for it! yay!

Those are amazingly pretty! I especially love the first picture. It looks just like you cut out a slice of a pond and put it into your apartment.

Ooh, it's cool if we post our own aquarium pics?

I had three of these several years ago and are still my favorite fish to keep. I have moved far to often lately to have any aquarium and certainly can't have one big enough to raise them again, but one day....one day.

Before I moved up here to Yellowknife I had a tank with a little Jack Dempsey, a pleco and a couple others that I can't recall:

Over the years I've had Angels, Tiger Barbs, Silvertip Tetras, a Bicher (My tank was totally inappropriate for him and I sold him eventually, well, all my fish ended up being sold. Except the Tiger Barbs. They got wiped out by a dropsy infection that I just couldn't beat).

I still have a 5 gallon that I kept a pretty little betta in, but it's in storage since the move.

I'll play. I have 2 125 gallons built into the wall at work. I have some better photos somewhere, these didn't come out good at all

Oh gosh I am so jealous of these gorgeous planted tanks. I can't have live plants in my tanks because I keep bottom-dwellers (loaches, catfish, etc.) who just love to dig and "redecorate". One of my loaches especially likes to wear the airstone/fake plants/decorations as a hat.

Also, huzzah for Otocinclus catfish! I have one in my tank who I swear is immortal. He's also decided, that despite all the algae we give him and despite the fact he is a vegetarian, that his preferred food is bloodworms. He'll even take them from my hand when I'm feeding the others.
