luvmycorn

My corn is my god
my corn just ate and right after that she was gaping her mouth alot. i couldnt get a great look inside the mouth but it looked fine. yesterday she blew a bubble right after drinking some water. she has been eating fine but i want to know if she will be ok. she is only about six months and is 16 inches. please respond! i want to know if my corn is okay. i dont have any pix, but she looks fine. just the one bubble and gaping mouth right after feeding.

It's normal to bubble after drinking. It's also normal for her to yawn or press the sides of her jaw against something after eating. She is realigning her jaw. The whole jaw comes apart when they eat not only where it attaches to the skull, but also in the very front, too.

If you see her breathing with her mouth open, with slimy mucous coming out, then it's time to suspect a respiratory infection.

A gaping mouth after feeding can just be them replacing their jaws. They basically have to unhinge them to swallow the mouse, and then sometimes will yawn, very big, to rehinge the jaw. I would keep an eye on him or her, and if you see any sort of substances protruding or leaking from the mouth, like bubbles again, call your vet. Better safe than sorry.

thx. she looks fine now, it was about two minutes after eating that she "yawned" to get her jaw back in place. she is burried under the fluff now! fun!
