Possible viv found on Ebay?

Kazarus

Awesome Since 1984
Would this item be good for me to buy to use as multiple vivs, you think (possibly removing some of the center shelves to make them bigger)?

No opinions? I know it may seem like a stupid question, but I'm simply wondering if that item looks like a good viv for the price. It says it's made of a high impact plastic, so do you think heating will be fine?

I don't know about heating... ask the seller, maybe?

I would only use it with bigger snakes, I think. TBH, I would just stick with tubs than spend money on all that. So much easier too.

Without examining the item in person, it is difficult to make a recommendation on its effectiveness. To me, the size looks fine. The 1/2 shelf space would make a decent size for a young snake, and a full area for an adult (based on size recommendations on this site and in books). I cannot tell how the locking mechanism works and if it would be sturdy enough for a really inquisitive snake. Plus, are those holes in the sides of each cabinet? On the pics on ebay, it appears as though light is coming through the sides in a waffle like pattern.

Yeah, it's really hard to make a determination of "reptile-worthy-ness" without being able to get a "hand-on" look-see. If you're gonna take the "plunge" take some pics to let all of us know.

Otherwise, I just couldn't recommend either way...

It does appear to have holes in it, but I don't think they're big enough for a snake to fit through, though I'm not sure.

These cabinets have me intrigued. Talk about cost effective. If you do decide to purchase one (you can buy a single for $10), please let us know. Could be a real bargain, but I agree with what everyone else has said so far, it's too hard to judge the snake-worthyness of the cabinets from the website alone.

I agree with the others that it is just too hard to tell from the pic if it would be reptile safe.

It does look nice and would be a big bonus if you could use it for corn snakes.

Ask the seller to take a close-up photo of one side, with some kind of ruler or something. If it were me, I'd take no chances on a possible escape route. :^)

Actually, it doesn't have holes all in the side after all.

There's ridges in the bottom and on the side walls. That'd probably have to be covered up or it might hurt the snake's scales, huh?

There are small holes in the back, though.

I haven't bought any yet. It added up to around $70 for 6 of them before when they were selling them at a sale price. Now he has it up to around $81 for 6. I'm going to wait to see if he puts them up as a sale again, and hopefully by then I will be decided on whether or not I should take the plunge and buy them.

Hmm.. interesting.. definitely looked like light streaming through on the pics on ebay. :^) I don't know if the ridges would hurt the snake, but I think, why take the chance. I suppose you could fill them with some kind of epoxy or glue a fitted piece of plastic in there, but now you're adding money and time to what was supposed to be an inexpensive thing in the first place.

I really like these....I think that I may order a couple to test out. The front opening thing is a biggie for me....
