Power Outage After Feed

So last night we had a huge storm come through, and the power was out for about 5 hours. I didn't have anything to keep the viv warm, so it was all up to room temperature. It got down to about 74 on the cool and warm side according to my digital thermometers.

The only problem is, I fed my little guy the night before. The other thing is, it was his first time eating a fuzzy. When his meal was just 2 pinkies, he would have them digested in a day, maybe a little longer, so he would have been done by the time the power went out. But just having eaten his largest meal yet, he was definitely still digesting it. Would the temp drop of 10 degrees for about 5 hours affect him? I didn't see any signs of regurg on the surface, but I haven't dug through the substrate. Any help is appreciated!

I'd leave him strictly alone. No checking. If he regurges, you can't do anything anyway to prevent it, and you'll smell it. Shen he's done digesting, he'll be out. He's _probably_ okay.

I'm hoping he's fine. I think if it were a whole day without power it would be a different story. Also, I was lucky the room temp was mid-70's. If it were winter, it could have meant trouble. Thanks for the positive reinforcement! I'll let you know how he ends up!

Oh hey! You are not far from me.

Like Nanci said, leave him alone, no checking, just let him chill and relax.

He should be fine. I was without power for a while and all my critters are fine. Seems like storms always happen on meal day and that was MONSTER storm.

So ever since this incident, I haven't seen my snake come out of his hide at all. A couple days after he ate, I saw poop in the viv, so he obviously moved then, but I haven't seen him out. The power went out 10 days ago, and this is an oddly long time to go without seeing him. I checked under his hide to make sure he was alive, and he was but he seemed very scared. He backed away when I lifted the hide, and had very jerky movements. I put a shed box in his viv because according to the pattern (only 2 sheds with me) he is about due for one (every month-ish). He seemed a lot darker than normal, and I'm worried because he is behind on the feeding schedule now, and of course he hasn't been active. Should I be worried? Any help is appreciated.

He is likely getting ready to shed. A healthy snake can go weeks without eating so don't worry about his schedule. If he has been hiding for 10 days already he is probably in the "clear" phase and will be shedding soon.

They go "blue" their eyes get hazy and their skin looks cloudy, then they go into the "clear" phase and look normal and then they shed. Some snakes will do the whole process in a week, some take longer.

Yeah, the 2 sheds I observed, I have seen him in the blueing phase, and then he shed a week later. This one may just be taking a little longer. I also didn't see the blueing or any other signs, so that's why I was worried. I hope it's just a shed. I will be so relieved when he comes out again!
