pro's and con's of food choice

Good thread! Im sure you will get a ton of responses :)

Lets see....

Frozen:

pros:
- safe (0 risk of bite wounds)
- cheap (can order in bulk offline for a discount price)
- more convenient (if you buy in bulk it saves you many trips to the petstore)
- more sanitary (freezing kills parasites)
- humane. (the rodents are euthanized using co2 which is painless, and then frozen)

cons:
- occasionally some snakes are less willing to accept frozen food - this is almost never an issue with corns

Live:

Pros:
- Occasionally is the only option if a snake refuses frozen

Cons:
- high risk of bite wounds, they are more expensive
- Cannot buy in bulk (unless you house them in a tank, which involves feeding, cleaning etc)
- risk of transmitting parasites to your snake
- If the snake doesnt eat them you have to either return them or keep and feed them until time to feed again
- Inhumane to the rodent

oops - its kind of obvious, but under Cons for live "high risk of bite wounds" and "more expensive" are two separate entries...
