Does puncturind the skin of a DEAD mouse help the snake digest it faster? I have been doing it for the last 2 feedings and havent noticed a really big difference. The "lump" did go down a little fast maybe but is it safe. I use a sharp razer and make 3 SMALL slits down its back and then make sure the blood comes out a little then feed it. I made 5 slits in the fuzzie last night and the lump was very small when I woke up this morning. Does that meen I should move up to bigger mice or just keep him on the same size? He doesn't seem to like 2 mice at all. He only eats 1 mouse a week. I tried to get him to eat 2 small pinkies and when I woke up one of the pinks were still there. That should I do?
 
Keep doing what you are doing. You really won't see a difference in size after just two feedings. It is going to take a little longer than that! :)

The snake will digest his meal a lot faster though!
 
when u puncture the head your just letting them smell it better so that they know its food. on reason why it may seem to go down faster is that the muscle inside the snake works on the mouse and the in side organs can seep out of the slits. hope i helped.
 
it does help to some extent, but mostly in younger snakes. Perforating (cutting slices)the skin of a pink or a fuzzy will help to digest it because a lot of energy is spent digesting the skin. In adults, it could help, but I've never tired it before. I have tried it in my hatchlings that were on pinks and fuzzies and noticed a big difference in weight gain and general growing.

I dont see a cause of doing that besides tricking them to feed why should you an already feeding snake grow faster.... let nature take its way
 
It's healthier for the snake. The skin is the toughest to digest and by making slits it allows the insides to be digested faster than if the acids had to break through the skin (leaving this mouse just rotting in the stomach, waiting to be digested), in turn giving the snake a higher nutritional value from it's meal.

Fresher is better. lol

they are living among uss for some time and there is no slitterd mouse pressend in nature..... let nature takes its course.

Fluffy loves to eat. I have noticed him gain a lot of length in the last 4 feedings. He is due to start his shed sycle anyday now. He as eaten 5 times so he should shed soon.
 
Putting cuts in the back is also beneficial if you have a snake that's suffered from regurges in the past. Making it easier to digest helps cut down on the chance of regurge. I have been cutting my hatchlings fuzzies. I feed them the same amount of food, but they receive more benefit from the feeding. I don't see anything wrong with creating a healthier snake.
 
Thanks, I feed fluffy more often than normal and larger meals. The buldge after 1 day is the size it used to be after 3!!!! I love the cutting method. I have also used needles to make holes in th mouse. I heat the needle up and put it through the frozen mouses back. I kinda "BURN THE NUTRIENTS IN"
